His Moment

History has always shown that great Presidents become great because they define the times and not the other way around.

Abraham Lincoln held the Union together.

Franklin D. Roosevelt dug the country out of depression.

John F. Kennedy prevented nuclear holocaust.

Now, we will have the chance to watch history unfold. Will the two wars in the Middle East and the Recession on the verge of another Depression, define Barack Obama’s or will he control the course of history?

Perhaps it’s not the daunting task that is ahead of him that I eagerly await for him to take his place among the Great American Presidents. It’s the fact that someone like him has finally taken the oath of office and that for the first time as a father, I was able to look at my children and know that in America everything really is possible.

Well, almost everything, the Cubs have yet to win the World Series.

i do know he is apparently a whitesox fan, chris….not sure he will be able to offer much guidance or support for your cubs….but otherwise i understand the uplifted spirit.

i came to realize yesterday the negative cast, almost a guilt by association, that america had been brushed with as a result of her leadership and their decisions. i felt hope for your nation, her spirit and reputation. i look forward to seeing the changes and the future to come for the u.s.

Yes, a woman still isn’t president, while many, many other nations have had one, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that this is a major change and gives hope to so many who had much less before. I’m proud of my fellow citizens for voting him into office. I am also so relieved that we don’t have John McCain or Jeb Bush in the White House.

    Hi Chris,
That is one of the great messages President Obama’s swearing in has brought — one of hope and faith of what is possible. I believe he has a large job on his hands to be a great president. And if he can truly do this, that just solidifies these thoughts for me even more.

    The Cubs…sorry man…it’s gonna be a while…

Phil Exec Sec thinks Obama can learn a lot from GMA. My husband thinks it’s all too funny. I think so, too. But I keep my mouth shut when it comes to politics and the current situation of my country. I fear I can’t stop spewing venomous words, so I keep my political thoughts in check.
